When you have a growing family at various levels of swimming capability, you need a pool that can cope with the rigours of teenage boys practicing their classic Kiwi dive bombs, to babies learning to swim - and that’s just the design this Waikato family got with their custom-crafted family pool from the team at Mayfair Pools Hamilton & Cambridge.
With panoramic vistas across the plains, a large outdoor area and a growing family of boys, this Waikato family seized the opportunity to invest in a playful pool area that harmoniously nestles into the surrounding landscape – whilst creating a space that is fit for hours of family fun.
The owners brief was to create a pool that could cater to an 11-year old who loves doing bombs, a 7-year old who swims lengths, a 5-year old who feels the cold and a toddler yet to learn to swim – deep at one end, long enough for lengths and shallow enough for a toddler’s paddling area – no mean feat! But with a custom-built Mayfair pool, the needs of every family member could be easily met.
The 12m x 4m family pool features a swim up beach step and full-length step that runs along the entire length of the pool, providing ample space for toddlers to enjoy paddling around in the shallows. Boulders at the deep end are strategically placed for the ultimate ‘manu’ bomb, and a pool house allows the family to relax with friends and escape the summer heat. The heat pump extends the season and allows the water to sit at a consistent temperature for everyone to enjoy. LED lights allow the family to swim late into the night on balmy summer evenings, and the Naked Freshwater chlorination system means the water is gentle enough for sensitive skin. Concrete coping and pool surrounds, along with aluminium panel fencing in between railway sleeper posts completes the seamless natural poolscape.
