Top tips for maintaining crystal-clear water in your swimming pool

Keeping your pool or spa in tip top shape means you’ll get the best out of your pool in all seasons and under all conditions. Whether you use a Saltwater, Freshwater, or traditional pool cleaning system, these are our top tips for keeping your Mayfair pool or spa water crystal clear:

  1. Maintain your water chemistry
    Testing your water and balancing your chemicals weekly in the summer and fortnightly in the winter. If you keep your Alkalinity, pH and Water Hardness in range and the rest usually takes care of itself. The bonus is you can reduce the amount of balancing chemicals and ensure your sanitation system is working effectively. Your local Mayfair agent are trained professionals and can test and provide all your Mayfair chemicals needs.

  2. Clean your pool filter by backwashing monthly or rotating and cleaning your cartridge filter regularly
    This will allow your filter to capture all the debris and have your pool filtering optimally. It is key to have a minimum of 1.5 times of pool water turnover to keep everything ship shape.

  3. Vacuum, remove large debris, and brush walls on a regular basis
    A pool vacuum, pool brush and net come with all Mayfair Pools. …Not loving the manual labour? A robot pool cleaner can do all this work for you!

  4. Check your pump room regularly
    Primarily keep an eye on your salt chlorinator, pump and plumbing and make sure any valves are returned to their correct positions.

Bonus tip: Invest in a good cover as this will reduce your chemical needs, prevent too much debris landing in your pool and help maintain the temperature of your pool.
